Brief History

I was educated at Shrewsbury School (a place I thoroughly enjoyed) which I left with three A levels including 'S' level mathematics. I qualified as a Chartered Accountant (FCA) and joined a clothing manufacturing company (300 staff) and became Finance Director after three years. I then joined a small consultancy practice and moved on to my own practice after two years. Since that time I have been involved in consultancy and training on a continuous basis and have lectured both on University programmes and corporate programmes. I attained an M.B.A. (part-time) from Henley Management College in 1995 during which time I had two more children (not that there is any connection).

I greatly enjoy working with people with a sense of humour (as long as it agrees with mine) and I firmly believe that life should not always be taken too seriously. However, I do take the responsibilities of work seriously and always try to balance job satisfaction (for both myself and my client) with the client's desired outcomes.

Hobbies

I enjoy tennis and also golf which is just starting to improve as my nineteen-year old son is now pushing me to play more and will be beating me hollow if I do not give it more time. I also enjoy watching professional football but I shall decline to say which team on the grounds that I should then avoid losing a potential client!

I also practice Qi Gong which is a little like Tai Chi but more focused on the health rather than martial aspects. I recommend it to anyone whether healthy or not as it can be practiced to a ripe old age.

My life was turned around 4 years ago by my return to worship at a church, in particular through attending the Alpha course. www.uk.alphacourse.org. For a small risk of time, the reward could be unimaginable.

Veging out in front of a good movie also has a certain dubious attraction, particularly when accompanied by a good bottle of Chateau Neuf-du-Pape.
